RSPB Minsmere Reserve

From rutting deer to the bulk of Britain’s bitterns, RSPB Minsmere is a must not only for twitchers, but for lovers of all types of flora and fauna. The hides and walks are open from dawn to dusk -  and the café alone is well worth the trip.

Walberswick

Known in the tabloids as Notting-Hill-on-Sea, owing to its celebrity residents including film directors Richard Curtis and Paul Greengrass, this pretty village is also famed for its crabbing, vibrant pubs and unspoilt dunes.

Dunwich Forest

Dunwich Forest played a surprisingly significant role in world history. JFK's older brother Joe, a WWII bomber pilot who was tipped to become the first Catholic president of USA, was killed in a plane crash over the wood in 1944.
